Last lesson we learned about the biblical objectives of the church in particularly the 5 pillars of GLCC in which
the church is held together. In this lesson, we take a macroscopic look into the standards of the church. The standards
establish a minimum guideline for each member of GLCC to adhere to. The intention is not to conform to man's standards
but to conform to the standards outlined in the Word of God.
GLCC Standards for -
1. The Lord's Day
The Bible teaches us that one in seven days is for the Lord (Exo 20:8)
What must we do? Keep the Lord's Day as a day unto God and to rest from worldly chores and pleasures.
How do we go about doing it? Sufficient preparation to be made in the other 6 days of the week, in order to keep
the Lord's Day.
Expectation of you:
o Every Gospeliter to be in church on Sunday and participate in its activities.
o Membership is revoked when a member is absent for twelve consecutive Sundays without a valid reason.
2. Bible Version
We believe in the plenary infallibility of the Scriptures in the original autographs (2 Tim 3:16) and the divine
preservation of the Scriptures (PSA 12:6,7)
We believe that the King James Translations (also called the "King James Bible" or "KJB" and
the "Authorized Version" or "AV") is the most reliable and faithful English translation
Expectation of you:
o Every Gospeliter to use the KJV in public worship to prevent disorder in the church (I Cor 14:40)
3. Music
An unbeliever sings for his own pleasures but a believer sings to praise God.
God is musical and praise is "comely" (i.e., beautiful) to God
Expectation of You:
o Every Gospeliter to actively praise God and be part of His choir at the worship service
4. Christian Testimony
We are "ambassadors for Christ" (2 Cor 5:20).
Expectation of You:
o Every Gospeliter should not behave in ways nor participate in activities that will shame the name of God
o Gospeliters who commit visible gross sins will be excommunicated from membership
o Gospeliters to dress appropriately and modestly when coming to God's house
5. Order in the Church
Elders are servants of Christ to His church and not servants of the Church
Role of Elders (as Christ's servant):
o To rule and preach as Christ's representatives (I Tim 5:17)
o To train members to serve God
Expectation of You:
o Every Gospeliter to provide feedbacks and opinions on church matters to the Elders before a decision is made
and to willingly obey once the decision is made by the church elders
o Every Gospeliter to fully support the Ministers of the church
.
