1 Cor 15:58 tells us that we (Christian Brethren) should be the ones that continually abound in the work of the Lord. But what does doing the work of the Lord really entail? What does it require of us? Doing the work of the Lord is really living for Christ. We need to constantly remind ourselves that life is for ministry. We need to recognise that we are just but weak vessels that are used for God's purpose to edify and to spread the Gospel. We need to recognise that it is a privilege for God to use us. God does not need to use us, but he chooses to. Thus with the gifts that he has given to us, how can we ever short change an eternal, everlasting and never changing God?
Not serving in a ministry is akin to being like the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea is typically recognised as the lowest point on Earth, but more than that, there are only inlets and no outlets. Thus salts are carried in from lands by the inlets and they accumulate in the Dead Sea. The sea water there is so dense that it is impossible to sink in it but at the same time its so salty that nothing can live in it. Thus if we only take in God's word and not supply ourselves with an outlet for service, one day we will become like the Dead Sea, having no life.
This is why it is critical that a Christian's life should be used for ministry. We urge you to take a look at the various ministries at which you can serve. May God place you in where he wants you to be.
