The Motivation Of The Church Is The Rapture At GLCC we believe in the imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that at any moment "the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we will always be with the Lord" (I Thessalonians 4:16-17). When the Lord comes all of our earthly work will come to an end. Never again will we have an opportunity to witness and work for the Lord. It is the reality of this imminent return that motivates us to be living and serving our Lord. It is the rapture of the church that motivates us to be living purely. John said, "Beloved, now we are the sons of God and it doeth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that, when he shall appear we shall be like Him, for we shall see him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as he is pure" (I John 3:2-3). The rapture motivates us to live purely because we do not want to be caught doing something we would be ashamed of when He comes. |
